About Senior Design

Every year, the University of Notre Dame Electrical Engineering Department requires its Senior Class to complete an engineering design project. This class encompasses the designing and actually building of a working prototype of an electical engineering related device.

Our Project

Our project goal is to essentially make the launching of fireworks safer, easier, and more enjoyable. The main cause of firework related injuries is due to the person being too close and getting burned or injured. Over 10,000 hospital visits were made just last year due to these injuries.

In order to accomplish this, we will incorporate a variety of safety features into our design. In particular, a remote launching and ignition system which will allow the individual to maintain a safe distance from the fireworks.

One key component of our project is to maximize the enjoyment in an everyday fireworks display. We plan to provide the interface to plan, coordinate, time, and enhance the overall firework experience for the average enthusiast.
